Well I can't believe that I have finally come to the end of our voyage and at time I must say I have felt a little sea sickness :) at times and there have been some times when I have felt like I was walking the plank and not sure if I would ever get it... I do really need to use this technology more often in order to feel more comfortable with it.
I am very thankful to Michelle for her patience and desire to help myself and others learn and hopefully they will use some of the information she has provided in this workshop.
It will be alot of fun using the Wordle again with our students again this coming school year.
I look forward to hearing about my fellow shipmates on our campus when school starts back.
I do have to admit that I find it hard to comment on other peoples blogs for some reason. I am more of a face to face kind of person it just seems so impersonal to me. I must still be OLD SCHOOL as my daughter would put it.. this too is something I need to overcome :)
So thank you, thank you Michelle for setting up this voyage for all of us and being such a GREAT CAPTAIN!!!!!

Took the Atomic Learning pre-test WOW!!!! It was hard and I feel like I didn't learn a thing :( it just proves to me that I really do learn by doing and the more I do it the better I become. Technology is so fast paced and every changing it some times feels hard to keep up let alone remember what you have learned and then apply it. It is kind of like learning a different language it you don't use it you will loose it!!!

I really liked the Myth and Lore We Share.... I have always been interested in Myths and Folk Lore. I think that this would be something fun to explore in the library with our students especially since the Percy Jackson series has been very hot with our students and also the movie release of the Lightning Thief. This series has definitely sparked an interest with our students and them wanting to learn more. It would be hard to do online research with our younger students but I feel that the older grades would really like learning more about different Myths and Folk Lore

I am currently the Library Aide for my campus, our campus does have a mobile computer lab.

Kid Pix Deluxe has so many sites to choose from, I found it hard to navigate and choose.

Wordle: Our Library already uses Wordle for the Bluebonnet project that the kids do. The Kids really enjoyed doing this it helps with their vocabulary skills, word association, story comprehension by using key words.

TerraClues: seems a little advanced for our campus, possibly 4th grade, I had fun searching the clues but, at times I got lost or confused as to what I was looking for as the clues got harder.

Kid zone and Word sift could be used in conjunction in the library, using a "word" for that week and then using word sift to display different images and uses of the word would enhance vocabulary and increase reading comprehension.

Using blogs and wiki's can be a helpful tool for both teachers and parents for communication purposes; however, I am concerned that with using a wiki that the informantion posted can be changed. If was to interact with parents or relay specific information and leave it open for input I would use a blog. You could use wiki for keeping up with inventory and locating items within your campus.

Photostory is a lot of fun!!!!!! it's really neat to be able to make a slide show of pictures and add music to it. Kind of like a musical scrapbook. I could see how you could use this tool for your class room because alot of children learn by sight and music and this program allows you to add your own material and music. Teacher tube is helpful but, you have to be very specific or you will have to go thru alot of information to find what you are looking for.

I-google is pretty fun, I liked being able to pick what sites you want to view on I-goolge like local news, weather, calendar and anything else your hearts desires. google earth was a lot of fun also, I went to see the house I grew up in England and how it looks today and also how it use to look. I feel that using google earth 5 would be helpful with students by getting them excited about using technology being able to view there community before and now.

I had already had my blog set up from last summer, Michelle was a lot of help and very patient with me. Posting on my blog seems to be hard for me for some reason, I seem to struggle with how to say what I want to say, I guess I'm making it a lot harder than it really is, just like trying to decide what to call my blog!!! Laura is pretty original don't you think. As Michelle would say "I am calm and relaxed" and try not to over think things. It can be fun and helpful if you let it.

Setting sail on my journey on the high sea's of technology. In the library we have already started using technology with our students by having them create their own wordle for their bluebonnet books instead of a poster.

Thing #8 RSS feed & Google Reader

I was relieved that they made a video for RSS feed, it sure made it easier for me to "see" what they were talking about with my own two eyes. Visual aides are very helpful since just about all of this stuff is really new to me!!!

Google reader is pretty cool, I liked being able to choose the news sites and any other sites "I"
want to view. This tool could be very helpful for Teachers and Coach's alike to be able to view info they have chosen and not have to go looking for it, such a current events and game scores.

I liked Igoogle, it was fun being able to choose just what you information you wanted and have instantly.(I have used it too see what is on at the local movie theater) Our students would enjoy being able to have instant access to sports info, movie theater info, any number of choices to put on their own Igoogle page.

I also liked google earth. I used this to look at my home, school, family,friends old address. This was fun seeing what it looks like from space. The space program has been in the news alot lately it would be a great tool for our students to look at places on this web site to see check out other countries that they are curious about what the terrain looks like.

I went to big huge labs and found a mashup on using the trading card maker for using with our forth grade students bluebonnet books. The kids are really into trading cards and being able to make their own would be lots of fun.

I found a picture of bluebonnets for our bluebonnet readers. Flicker is a great tool for getting imagines to use.

Thing #3 Creating a blog and Avatar

Wow this was hard, I did okay with setting up my blog. It took me a while to come up with a title and I finally gave in and let the site help me with one, not to original. :(
I had to have help getting started with my avatar (yahoo) I did okay with creating my avatar that was alot of fun picking out what I wanted to look like. I did have alot of help getting it my on blog page. I have a very patient and helpful coworker, I would have been lost with out her help.

Habit #3 view problems as challenges is something I find easy, I have had many bumps in the road and have always been able to pick myself up, dust myself off and try again.
Habit#7 1/2 I do try to play as much and as often as I can, sometimes everyday life just seems to get in the way.
Habit #6 Technology- always starts out very scary to me, I find that I need to practice what I've
learned several times before I feel comfortable with it.
